The palace as location for movie shooting

The Neo-renaissance Palace of Tura was built by Zsigmond Schossberger based on the plans of Miklós Ybl, one of the most acknowledged architects of the era. From 1883 on the noble family used the stately building as their summer mansion.

The three-storey building with it complex ground plan was based on the schema of palaces of the Loire-side. Its inner spaces resemble Italian renaissance elements. The 1000 m2 area used to hold 98 localities; out of the 5-meter headroom rooms (of 30 to 60 m2 area) 7 could be used for other purposes, while the spiral staircase, smaller localities and arched basement halls can be used as well. The corridors of the building are arched with through and groined vaults, the hallways, stairways and Palm house were covered by decorative painting back then.

The building in Tura, some 50 kilometers from Budapest, was opened after 31 years in August 2005 by Tura Castle Ltd. Since the opening we had nearly 20.000 visitors, and more and more people are beginning to show interest nowadays. Several newspapers and TV channels deal with the introduction and future of the building. Also, film-makers are gradually becoming aware of its existence:

  • The band Sear Bliss had a shooting in January 2006 by the title "Two Worlds Collide" (directed by Demeter Lóránt), in April it was "Vágyom rád" shot by Hungarian Megastar finalists Gabi Tóth and Peti Puskás (camera-man: Zoltán Mayer), followed by the video shoot of "Bölcsek útján" by the band "Unique" in July (directed by Gergely Tóth, camera-man: Zoltán Mayer), on the spot.
  • Between December 2006 and January 2007 scenes from the production named New Line Cinema Amusement were shot in the building (director: John Simpson (II), producers: Udi Nedivi, Mike Macari, Neal Edelstein).
  • A commercial was also shot in the palace in September 2007, called Holdhercegnő (The Moon Princess) by Gábor Csupó.
  • Interaktív Ltd. also shot in the area in March 2008 for Irigy Hónaljmirigy - Péter Háry in Hungary and the introductory movie of Christian Panthera titled "The chosen one" (A kiválasztott).

Tura Castle Ltd. is happy to fulfill similar demands, hoping for more and more people from the profession to get to know and use this facility of the unique building (waiting to be renovated) and its 10 hectare park.
